What is the Addison’s Disease?

Addison’s disease is an endocrine or hormonal disorder that occurs in all age groups and afflicts men and women equally. The disease is characterized by weight loss, muscle weakness, fatigue, low blood pressure, and sometimes darkening of the skin in both exposed and nonexposed parts of the body.

Addison’s disease occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, in some cases, the hormone aldosterone. The disease is also called adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism.

The basic non-electronic part of a Coulter counter unit, as shown above, consists of a reservoir into which a finger-like tube is partially immersed. Near the lower end of the tube is a very small hole of known diameter. (Assortments of tubes are available covering a large range of hole sizes.) If the “finger” is filled to some point above the level of the outside reservoir, the contents of the finger will slowly flow through the hole until the two levels are equalized. This means that any particles (e.g.: blood cells, silt, bacterial cultures) will get flushed through the hole also.

“Jika sampai 1 maret 2008 tidak ada stasiun TV yang membuat sistem berjaringan di beberapa daerah, maka Pemerintah harus dicurigai”. Demikian tegas Menteri Komunikasi dan Informasi (Kominfo), Prof.Moh Nuh dalam Rapat Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia (KPI) seluruh Indonesia pertengahan Februari lalu. Pada kesempatan itu, M.Nuh juga “menantang” KPI untuk melakukan gugatan besar-besaran jika pada tanggal tersebut tidak ada stasiun TV swasta melakukan siaran berjaringan. Kini, sudah 2 bulan lebih janji itu berlalu. Sudah adakah televisi swasta – yang lazim disebut sebagai TV nasional –melakukan (usaha kearah) siaran berjaringan (SSB)? Tidak sama sekali. Yang ada justru sebaliknya. TV swasta beramai-ramai melakukan penggabungan kepemilikan (merger) untuk memperkuat basis kapital yang mereka miliki selama ini. Diawali oleh TransCorp hingga terakhir launching TVone yang merupakan gabungan ANTEVE dengan Lativi di Istana Merdeka. Jika tidak ada satu televisi swasta pun tidak melakukan usaha kearah SSB sebagaimana diperintahkan konstitusi, mengapa Depkominfo tidak melakukan tindakan apapun? Tanda Pak Menteri tidak berwibawa ataukah sudah kegagalan pemerintahan (A Government Failure)?

In human physiology, volume of blood expelled by either ventricle of the heart. It is customarily expressed as minute volume, or litres of blood per minute, calculated as the product of stroke volume (output of either ventricle per heartbeat) and the number of beats per minute. Maintaining and regulating cardiac output, which is usually proportional to the tissues’ need for oxygen and other nutrients, is one of the circulatory system’s most intricate functions. In the healthy human adult, resting (or basal) output is estimated to be slightly over five litres per minute. Normally, it decreases somewhat when a person changes from recumbent to upright position. It may be increased 50 to 100 percent by anxiety and excitement and as much as fivefold by exercise. Measurement of cardiac output makes possible an evaluation of respiratory exchange, i.e., the delivery of oxygen to the tissues.
